FAQ

Is IDD Therapy safe?

Yes. IDD Therapy is FDA-cleared and considered a safe, gentle, and non-invasive treatment option. Each session is carefully customized by a qualified practitioner to match your body type, diagnosis, and comfort level. There are virtually no side effects aside from mild soreness that usually resolves quickly.

What is spinal decompression therapy (IDD) and how does it work?

IDD Therapy is a non-surgical spinal decompression treatment designed to relieve back and neck pain caused by disc problems such as herniation, degeneration, sciatica, or facet joint issues. It uses a computer-controlled system (Accu-SPINA) to gently stretch and decompress targeted spinal segments, allowing nutrients and oxygen to flow back into the discs and promote healing.

Each session takes 25-30 minutes and includes:

  • Gentle warm-up (heat or vibration therapy)
  • Computer-controlled spinal decompression on the Accu-SPINA table
  • Cooling and recovery phase with cryotherapy (ice or cold pack)
  • Post-treatment advice and home care guidance

And after each session,

  • Avoid heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for 24 hours
  • Apply ice to reduce inflammation if needed
  • Wear a lumbar support belt for 1-2 hours post-session if advised
  • Follow any stretching or home exercise program prescribed

A typical treatment plan,

  • 20 sessions over 6 weeks. This duration allows enough time for the body to adapt and for the spine to heal progressively.

Most patients begin to feel noticeable relief after 6-8 sessions, with long-term improvements seen by the end of the program.

Is spinal decompression therapy (IDD) painful?

Patients typically do not feel any pain during IDD Therapy. The treatment is gentle and relaxing, in fact, many people become so comfortable that they fall asleep during their session. The decompression force is precisely calibrated to a safe proportion of your body weight, ensuring the treatment is specific to you and unlikely to cause discomfort. Each session is carefully adjusted to your progress, with the decompression forces gradually increased over time based on your history and how your body responds.

After your session, a cold compress is applied to help minimise any post-treatment soreness. Some patients may experience mild tenderness similar to what you might feel after a massage or hands-on treatment, but this typically eases as your treatment course progresses and your spine begins to heal.

What is Osteopathy and how can it help me?

Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that focuses on restoring balance, mobility, and function throughout the body. It works on the muscles, joints, and spine to relieve pain, improve posture, and support natural healing.
